All products described here are used by us personally and many happy customers - www.remotelifestylesolutions.com Easy install (no complicated job like connecting your regular GPS to your computer!) 1> Install driver and optional GPS screen software from the mini CD you receive with the GPS mouse. 2> Plug in the GPS mouse in one of your USB ports. 3> Open your Electronics Charting software and select the USB port where you connected your GPS mouse. And magic … your actual position appears on your chart! GPS Mouse Step by Step Installation Guidelines 1> Insert accompanying mini CD in your computer disk drive (do not connect your GPS Mouse at this time) and open the contents of that CD. 2> Install the driver required by your operating system (follow instructions) (You choose between XP and Vista drivers). 3> When that has been completed, open the program called “GPS Fox” (this is a small program that let you know your position and speed, …). 4> Now connect your GPS Mouse to one of your USB ports ( use same port each time so you won’t have to re-program charting software). 5> You will see a small window popping open and telling you the USB port number you are using now. Remember that number. 6> Select that port number in the small window for the Port being used and select 9600 Baud as the speed used by the GPS Mouse. 7> Click on the ‘handshaking’ icon (button right of “Com Port Settings”) 8> You will now start to see a series of numbers and signs appear in the main window and you will start to see the strength of all satellites seen by your GPS Mouse. To improve the signal and number of satellites used, make sure your GPS antenna (the mouse itself) has an unobstructed view of the sky. Use the suction cup included or the magnetic back to stick it on a nearby porthole or skylight if you are in a boat. It is quite surprising how many yachts have quite an acceptable signal right on their salon table! You will soon see your Lat/Long/... in the right window 9> When this step has been reached successfully, you know that the GPS Mouse is working properly and you know the number of the USB port used. You have to close GPS Fox in order to use the GPS Mouse with any other software like Maxsea or C-MAP (the GPS Mouse cannot be used by 2 programs at the same time!) So first click again on the ‘handshake’ icon to disconnect the GPS Mouse. Now you can close GPS Fox. 10>You can now open your favourite navigation software like Maxsea or C-MAP (or others) and follow the instructions to connect a GPS to it. Remember to fill in the correct USB Com port number and to insert 9600 Baud as the speed of the GPS Mouse. Have fun seeing your boat on the electronic charts and remember to use eyeball navigation as charts can be off by several miles in some areas !!! This GPS is latest generation GPS and the position should be very accurate and acquired very quickly too. Note 1:    Most any GPS Mouse sold over the Internet comes with the regular GPS Fox software in Statute Miles and Miles per hour.    The manufacturer of our GPS Mouse developed a special marine software version for GPS Fox (in Nautical Miles and Knots).    Ask us for our special marine software download. Note 2:    If you had trouble connecting any other GPS Mouse with Maxsea, rest assured that our GPS do interface very well !
